Favorite Sport: Run, Bike, or Swim? A runner who enjoys a good swim, then bike ride, and of course...
Favorite Event: Olympic Distance Triathlon.
Most memorable moments from event(s): The downpours at JerseyMan and Marie lending me a jacket. Sitting at a picnic table after the CarpeDiem ride with a band playing in background just taking it easy listening to Gary, Rob and Marie talk about stuff.
Personal Goal for 2009: Improve cycling skills and endurance, improve swim stroke efficiency, and run Detroit (my hometown) Marathon (stretch goal: qualify for 2010 Boston Marathon).
Favorite thing about Team Echelon: They know how to have fun while competing and even stick around when it is not so fun. There is not much else to share as far as an athlete biography. Started running 5Ks in 2006 and felt good about the good causes those races generally supported. Soon began running regularly with the Princeton Running Club. At PRC, I signed up with team-in-training to do my first triathlon (again another great cause). The event was very satisfying. Somehow, I thought the excessive worry about bonking led to a bit of underperformance. Surprisingly my placement qualified for AG Nationals in Portland . Maybe it was overconfidence but I felt I could finish better in Portland than Philadelphia (ignoring the level of difficulty of the course!). My weakest triathlon leg however is cycling. While training on a bike tour near Colts Neck I spotted a team echelon jersey. I googled team echelon that led me to a web page about coach Jennisse. I am glad I did. Jennisse and Gary worked for 2 hours on my bike fit. Immediately I noticed improvement in the feel and ability to generate speed and power. We did multiple Computrainer sessions using a download of the Hagg Lake Portland bike course. The first session ended with a bit of discomfort, but each successive session led to an improvement. Ten minutes off, then another five minutes off . . . and on race day a total of 30 minutes faster! One might say I reached another level. I did finish better in Portland thanks to team
